Infection Control
Course Fee: $250.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE)
Course Requirements for Students for the 8-hour Infection Control Certification Course:
All requirements must be provided to Almaden Valley Dental Assistant Academy by e-mail at the time of Registration.
- CPR/BLS (Must be Basic Life Support) Certification (Non-Expired) from The American Heart Association, The American Red Cross or The American Safety and Health Institute.
- If the Student is not 18 years of age, please provide us with a High School photo ID and a document with the date of birth.
- If the Student is 18 or over, please provide us with a photo ID with the Birthdate.
This Course Consists of:
Eight (8) hours of Instruction blended with Home Study by Means of Electronic Media and (4) hours will be offered through traditional hands-on format in our Clinical Training Dental Office in San Jose California.

An 8-hour Board Approved Infection Control Certification Course is required for the unlicensed Dental Assistant prior to performing any basic supportive dental procedures involving potential exposure to blood, saliva or other potentially infectious material.
As part of the legislative mandate, under B&P Section 1750, an unlicensed dental assistant under continuous employment for 120 days or more must complete, within one year from the date of employment, a Dental Board approved Infection Control Certification Course, effective January 1, 2010. It is also a requirement for the RDA, OA, DSA applicants to satisfy the applicant requirements with the Dental Board of California. Must be a length of 8 hours, and a Dental Board approved course in the Dental Practice Act (2-hrs) is required as well. Upon successful completion of the course, a Certificate of Completion will be issued.
